G2 is good, thinking the G3 might be better!

G2 is good, thinking the G3 might be better!
Update: I emailed Monstrum about the adjustment issues and they immediately replaced the scope! Box drill is now spot on. I'm more than 500 rounds with it and the only thing that could make me happier would be a different reticle (I'm still not a fan of a dot at the center for long range applications). I still have the same setup and love it. The biggest factor when it comes to accuracy is now me.Original:I purchased this scope because I liked my G2. Everything is as advertised and I’m pretty happy. I’m not rating 5 stars (yet), because I’m not the happiest with the reticle and there appears to be greater shifts in impact than what should be predicted with the windage and elevation adjustments. A plus at this time is that with a 20 MOA base there is 56 MOA of available elevation adjustment up from my 100 yard zero. This gives me adjustment to 1200 yards with 308WIN according to my ballistic calculator.Test 1 - Fit & Finish: Good overall, as I have come to expect. Sturdy, smooth controls that actually feel a little better than my G2. Windage has 46 MOA of adjustment and elevation has 68 MOA of adjustment. The stops on these are not what feels like a hard stop. More like they get tight at the end. I have not wanted to crank hard on them to see if they will go any farther. On 6x there is a shadow that presents on the edge of the field of view at the far limits of adjustment that clears up as the reticle is moved toward the center of the mechanical range. This shadow is not seen at higher powers. The kill-flash has a tighter honeycomb than the one that came with the G2. This first focal plane reticle is disappointment at the moment. The G2 has nice fine lines that cross with fine marks for single MOA for elevation and every two MOA for windage. This G3 reticle has thicker lines with dot marks every MOA that stop just before the cross with a wide 1/2 MOA dot in the center. This dot is big enough to obscure longer range targets (1/2 MOA is roughly 5” at 1000 yards). Not what I was hoping for in a long range scope.Test 2 - Reticle Allignment and Zero: Using a plumb line, the reticle appears well aligned to the scope body with no appreciable deviation. Predictable adjustment to attain zero that has held for 60 rounds of 308WIN so far.Test 3 - Box Drill: Scope predictability moves point of impact with windage and elevation adjustments and returns to zero. The adjustments appear to move more than the 1/4 MOA per click. Adjustment 12 MOA up from zero resulted in a 14” shift in impact at 103 yards and adjusting 12 MOA down from zero and at the limit of adjustment (scope mounted on a 20 MOA base) moved impact 13.5”.Current setup: Mounted on an AR-10 variant chambered in .308 WIN, UTG 13 space 20 MOA base, Vortex low rise rings, Monstrum rubberized lens caps.
