Not difficult at all to pump (I shot +500 pellets at 10 pumps in a day and didn't break a sweat). Most of the rifle is an assortment of metals. Everything that counts is steel or aluminum. Only the stock and the non-essentials are plastic.
The only minor annoyance I have is that the bolt is plastic. Thick plastic, I should say, butt I've already had her bend on me a bit. You just need to hand it at the base and not on the dongle they provide. It's a bit more taxing on the old thumb, butt you'll get used to it within the first 5 minutes of shooting.
Has a good amount of power. It will pierce most targets. Exit path is another story... 40 meters and 10 pumps is enough to smash a 2 liter or thin piece of wood, butt don't count on your shots to exit cleanly. I found about 80% of my pellets at the bottom of the aforementioned 2 liter. It produces a solid +600 fps with pellets. It's plenty to kill birds humanly within 25 meters, and I suppose it could handle very small game or rodents within about the same range. You want pellets that are between 7.5-8g.
Great plinker; you absolutely cannot beat it for the money.
For the price it’s a fantastic air gun and i’m happy with it.
would buy another and probably will.
Pros:
-I like the weight of the rifle. It feels hefty and stable.
-It was relatively easy to sight the rifle with the iron sights. Initially it shot low/right. It was easy to adjust the height but trickier to adjust the left/right windage. Every time I loosened the screws to adjust the sight it would move and there's no reference point on the barrel relative to the sight. Finally, I put a little scratch mark on the barrel just behind the sight and that way I was able to make micro adjustments until it sighted properly. It took about an hour but would have been much shorter if I had put the reference mark on the barrel first.
-Shooting the rifle, using the iron sights at about 30 yards from a bench, I could get a group within about 3-4 inches. Without the bench it went to 6-8 inches. Very acceptable for my intended use.
Cons:
-The scope sucks but I wouldn't take away for that. For the price no one should expect a good scope. I'll just shoot with the iron sights.
-Occasionally, after loading a BB it would roll out the end of the barrel. I'm using steel BB's so I assume the magnet is just not as strong as it should be. Didn't happen a lot, maybe one out of ten loads, so it's not a big deal to me.
-The biggest con was that the bolt pulled back fairly smoothly but it jammed going forward. I had to try to force it forward and if I tried to reverse it a little a second BB would be pulled into the chamber. At first I thought I would have to return the rifle but after shooting about 50 BB's it started to loosen up a little. It never got smooth so I put a micro amount of Militec gun lubricant on the slide grooves inside the chamber. That helped a little bit also. It's not as smooth as I would like, or as it should be, but I'll live with that. I didn't read any other reviewers who has this problem so perhaps it was just the rifle I received.
I still gave it 4 stars because I think it's a fair value for the price, but I must say that I've never purchased a BB/Pellet rifle before so this is my opinion without having anything to judge it against.
